Matt’s brother was severely disabled at birth by a preventable medical error. Growing up alongside him, Matt experienced daily how preventable errors impact families. He spent much of his childhood volunteering in his brother’s school and in his classrooms, exposing himself to a wide range of disabilities and interacting with families. As Matt learned more and more about the profound needs these families had, he began to realize the lack of available resources for them, and turned to law as a means to close that gap.
Matt was inspired by the attorneys that helped his family during that difficult time. From the beginning of law school he made it his goal to help people dealing with the stress and anxiety of a traumatic or life altering event. For him this means helping people with healthcare related estate-planning. Much of the anguish a person can face during a traumatic event comes from not knowing what the future holds for them. By working with clients to draft important documents like a Will or Advance Healthcare Directive, he can provide them with the peace of mind that their affairs will be carried out as they wish, even once they are no longer able to do so on their own. Through Community Legal Advisors, Matt can focus on providing affordable transactional services to those who might not qualify for free legal services elsewhere.
Matt earned his JD from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
